Iota's Quest

In a thrilling and intellectually stimulating event, the college's Math Society recently held its orientation, featuring the much-anticipated "Iota's Quest.", a treasure hunt infused with mathematical puzzles, that proved to be an intriguing adventure. Participants embarked on a journey, deciphering cryptic clues and solving intricate riddles.

The event had 47 ambitious teams exploring the campus for clues for 3 days from the 3rd of October to the Orientation on the 6th of October. The quest, planned meticulously and filled with challenges, entailed performing origami on the brochure, solving calculus problems, a choice between baked goods and solving a demanding desmos problem leading to the mess, and finally, an intrusive text conversation cryptic with instructions to win the hunt a the orientation. 11 teams made it to the final clue of which *winners* took away the first place, with *1st runner up* and *2nd runner up* coming in a close second and third respectively. The event served as the perfect opening chapter, underscoring the society's core mission to provide a social aspect to learning.

We believe that mathematics isn't meant to be a solitary endeavor but a shared adventure. Our members understand that learning is most effective when it engages you beyond the classroom, which is why we're committed to building a devoted, math-themed social environment. By doing so, we hope to change the way people experience math and provide a space for deliberate discussions.

As we look ahead, the Math Society has ambitious plans to continue this mission. In the words of our society head, "You'd be surprised what qualifies as math." Our future events will further expand the horizons of mathematical exploration through diverse (and maybe sometimes unorthodox) math-themed discussions. We aim to blur the lines between the seemingly unrelated and math.

The Math Society's orientation was just the beginning of our journey. With Iota's Quest as a testament to the thrill of math, and our future plans that promise to redefine the boundaries of what math can be, we invite all students to join us on this exciting mathematical adventure, where learning is a communal undertaking.
